Finding Courage

by lizclark on July 8, 2013

What if the sound that is inside you is meant for MORE than just your living room?

What if you were meant to influence MORE than your Netflix queue?

What if that internal struggle…you know the one that says, “You’re not good enough,” versus, “I can do anything!”….what if that struggle exists simply because you ARE meant for more, but there’s something that is more committed than you are to holding you back?

What if the enemy trembles when he sees you get your act together because HE KNOWS who you are…better than you do?

What if YOU have something to say, create, design, impart to the world or even just to one person who is struggling and ready to end it all?

Would that matter to you?

What if the group of cells and tissue and the spirit and soul that make up YOU is actually destined to do something GREAT and the only thing that’s holding you back is YOU?

What if your own personal Baggar Vance showed up at your door, woke you up from a media-induced slumber and gave you permission to be yourself?  To EXCEL at being the very person you were MEANT to be?

What if you stopped letting a clock and someone’s insecure comment take over your mind and rule your day?

What if you’re reading this right now, not because of chance, but because you were sent to this page, at this moment, right now to make a decision to change…

To make more of your life.

To stop letting insecure, needy people be in charge of you and manipulate you into living life on their terms.

To be the person God designed you to be.

How do you find the courage to do this?

My gift to you today is to tell you that finding COURAGE to STAND UP and be yourself is easier than you might think.

Courage is a little like water.  Water is probably available to you all day long, but you might not think about it unless you’re thirsty…or if you run out.

Being scared is a little like being thirsty.  We don’t really think about courage until we realize we don’t have it.  We wish for courage when we’re scared..

But courage is simply a way of thinking.  It’s free and it’s available to EVERYONE, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The catch is only YOU can be in charge of YOUR courage.  Others can en”courage” you, but ultimately YOU have to decide to use it.

You don’t have to settle for fear.  How do you activate courage?

1. Define your fear

2. Stand up and say out loud with conviction, “You are not going to own me.  I am going to win with God’s help.  You’re not going to win.”

3. Then, take action.  Keep going.  If you mess up, start again.  Keep going.  Keep going.  Keep saying “I am going to win with God’s help.”  You were designed to WIN!

4. Find people who will encourage you as you develop more courage and stay in step with them.  Distance yourself from the people who are speaking fear and limitation in your life. The definition of YOU doesn’t have to be the collection of thoughts and ideas and words that other people have said about you.  I’m sure they’ve said some things.  But, who said they have to define you?

Who said they own the truth?

With everything that is within in me, I give you my word that I am not just some inspirational fortune-cookie blogger who wants to make you feel all warm and fuzzy.  I am a real person who has struggled with learning to be me.  If you’re struggling, too, please know you’re not alone.  God is on your side and I’m on his, cheering for you and ready to help you get life done.  Stand up and be more.  Your real life is calling!

Good words. Love the part about satan knowing our potential and being scared….

Megan, he is SO scared. When we get it together and start making focused progress toward the life God has for us, the enemy is terrified. He’ll do anything to distract us from getting that focus. We can do this!! :)
